Accessibility statements are required for all on-campus, off-campus, and virtual events. This statement ensures that individuals with disabilities can request accommodations in compliance with CSU legal requirements.

Important:

  • The statement must be included in all event-related emails (invitations, reminders, day-of emails, etc.).
  • It informs attendees that they must request accommodations at least 7 days in advance.
  • Not including this statement could result in penalties.

Step 1: Open Your Event Email

  • Start by opening the event email where you need to add the accessibility statement.
  • Scroll to the bottom of the email body and add a few line breaks to create space.

Step 2: Add the Accessibility Statement

There are two ways you can add the accessibility statement.

Option 1: Add it Manually

  • On the right-hand side, under Elements, click on the Text option.
  • Drag and drop it into the empty space you created at the bottom.

Text element

  • Copy and paste the following statement into the text box:
Individuals with disabilities, who would like to attend this event, please contact [Insert event sponsor’s name and email] regarding any special accommodation needs. It is recommended that individuals requiring auxiliary aids such as sign language interpreters and alternate format materials notify the event sponsor at least seven working days in advance. Every reasonable effort will be made to provide reasonable accommodations in an effective and timely manner.

 

  • Update the placeholder [Insert event sponsor’s name and email]  with your department’s contact information.
  • Copy the statement and paste it into the Text Component, and edit the font size, style, and paragraph styling.

Step 2: Accessibility text added manually

  • Click Save, and you're done!

Option 2: Use the Pre-Made Content Block

  • On the right-hand side, click on Content Blocks (icon with three hexagons).
  • In the search bar, type Accessibility.
  • Select the content block titled “Accessibility Statement” and drag it to the bottom of your email.

Step 3: Search content block

  • Update the placeholder [Insert event sponsor’s name and email] with your department’s contact information.

Step 4: Accessibility content block

  • Click Save, and you’re done!
