Step 1: Open An Email

  • Start by creating a new email or opening an existing one in Dynamics.
  • If you’re using one of our CSUSM-approved templates, click on the blue email header in the email. Luckily, this header is already formatted as full-width so all you need to do is replace it.
  • If you do not see a blue email header like the one below, go to our tutorial on How to Insert an Image.

Step 2: Replace the Image

  • Once you click the header, a toolbar will appear above it.
  • Click the Replace Image option on the toolbar.
  • Click default blue header

Step 3: Find Your Department’s Header

  • A pop-up window will appear on the left side with image options.
  • Click on Browse Library to open the Asset Library or you can upload a new university approved header.
  • Use the Search Bar to type in your department’s name (e.g., Office of the President).

Browse library for department header

Important Notes:
• The correct header is the dark blue version (800 x 134) with the white hills logo and the department name on the right-hand side.
• Do not use older versions, such as the white header. They are no longer in use.
• If you can’t find your department’s header, it hasn’t yet been created by the University Communication Design Team. You can:
  – Submit a request to the Design Team by emailing message@csusm.edu, or
  – Use the generic CSUSM email header temporarily shown above if you can’t wait.

Step 4: Select the Header

  • Still in the Asset Library, click on your department’s header to select it.
  • Then, click the Select button at the bottom of the pop-up.

Step 5: Check the Updated Header

  • The email header will now update to the one you selected.
  • You’re all set and ready to continue editing your email!
